Happy New Year - Fresh New Start

The new year is a great way to start fresh in your home. This doesn't need to be expensive, it just takes some time. Give yourself one goal to accomplish in January to make your house more like a home. Some ideas to get you started:

Clean out cluttered drawers

Get rid of furniture or accessories you don't like or don't need anymore - de-clutter. Only keep things you LOVE.

Paint an old piece of furniture to make it "new" again

Make a family wall with pictures of this past year - use all matching frames but different sizes.

Start using your china and crystal weekly instead of once a year

Change an old lamp's lampshade -pick a great shape or a fun color

Add a new finial to the top.

Have what you want and want what you have

Take some chances on wall colors and be bold

Update old floral arrangements - add a few "all natural" pieces and it will make it look so much better. If the arrangement is dusty, either clean it up or get rid of it!

Get rid of old candles that are sitting around never being used. Find large pillar candles with amazing color that you can burn all year around.

Add new pillows to your couch or a chair - choose down filled pillows, they are luxurious!

Enjoy!

Sister's Christmas Present

I always think that the best gift to receive is one that someone has made especially for you. This year I decided to make my sisters present and this is what I came up with. I first put burlap all over the canvas and then painted the acrylic paint on top of the burlap. It matches her dining room perfectly.

Old Door

I found this old door at a garage sale. I had a local artist paint it. I then added the medallions and the door handle. I'm suggesting that it be used as a headboard or an art piece on a wall. Would add lots of fun and character to any room.

Trained them to be Entrepreneurs

My daughters decided they wanted to have their own business like me. They are 9 & 10 and decided to come up with an idea and sell the items. These homemade knitted hats are what they decided to make and sell.

They fit the American Girl dolls perfectly as well as any baby doll. If you are interested in purchasing one of these beautiful hats, they are $5.00 each.

The name of their business is FUZ and their slogan is "Where's the FUZ in you?"I told them I'd post their idea on my blog. If you are interested in purchasing one of these hats, they are $5.00. Call me at 817-706-8000.

Fireplace Lit Up

Painted this fireplace today. It's a brand new house and there are a lot of warm textures throughout the home. Wood in the living room, warm tile in the kitchen, amazing stone back splash and then....this WHITE fireplace. It just stood alone in the room. I recommended to my client that we warm it up with a faux finish.

Now it looks like it fits in the room - much warmer. It now looks like stone rather than painted concrete!

Once again, paint can transform any room for the least amount of money! It just takes time and some creativity.

15' Tree in Lobby

A Christmas tree gets everyone in the Christmas spirit. It was fun to hear employee comments as we were putting this tree up in their lobby. "Wow, now it feels like Christmas".
Amazing what a statement a 15' tree makes!

This garland looked so real! It felt real too. My fingers were raw by the time I finished.
